The cabin stewards on Carnival Cruises are famous for the "towel sculptures" they create each evening. |
The skies were clearing as we arrived in Juneau, the only state capital that cannot be reached by road. | The Mt. Roberts Tramway was right next to the cruiseship dock, and we've made it a tradition to ride every cable car we encounter in our travels. |
The ride up the mountain was exhilarating... |
...and the view from the top was fabulous. |
This eagle at the Mount Roberts Nature Center had been hit by a small plane at the airport and lost part of one wing. She was named "Cessna" as well as Lucky (in jest); she had been injured previously, cared for, then tagged and released. Thus the center knew she was 5 years old when she was brought to them again. |
The
pine-scented breeze at the top of the mountain was refreshing.
