The next morning we
entered Glacier Bay, with blue skies and glassy seas.
Our first stop was
at the Johns Hopkins Glacier.
Even our huge ship
was dwarfed by the surrounding scenery.
We then moved on to
the "dirty" Grand Pacific Glacier.
| Mt.
Fairweather towers 15,000 feet over the glacier. |
Sometimes the high-altitude
winds blow snow off the mountain peaks.
| We
spent an hour watching the Margerie Glacier, hoping it would "calve," but no such luck today. These ice walls are 200 feet high. |
And the Reid Glacier was on our side of the ship on our way out of Glacier Bay.
