We exchanged our timeshare in Palm Desert, CA (the Marriott Desert Springs) for one on Hilton Head, SC (the Marriott Grande Ocean). Our vacation was in mid-September 1999, which turned out to be not the best timing, since Hurricane Floyd (a Category 5 "storm of the century") managed to cut our vacation a few days short. But it was still a wonderful vacation before Floyd arrived, and we will definitely go back to Hilton Head again. | |
Our resort was located on the beach, near the southern end of Hilton Head Island. It is one of the newest resorts on the island (in fact, Marriott just made it before all oceanfront development was banned). Like all resorts on the island, it can't be more than five stories tall. |
|
Did I mention that they had a lot of pools? We sure enjoyed trying them all. | One pool even had this bronze dolphin sculpture by the famous marine artist Wyland. |
The rest of the resort grounds (the part that didn't consist of swimming pools!) had beautiful tree-shaded walkways and ponds. |
|
After you absorbed the view of the ponds, you could switch to a view of the ocean. |
There were plenty of BBQ grills scattered around the property.
