In late October 2005 (just one week before our Washington DC trip) we visited the region of Paso Robles for a long weekend of winetasting. We were traveling with our friends Fred & Mary, who are members of the Wine Club at the winery where we would be staying.

On our drive to Paso Robles, we stopped at Laetitia Winery, just south of Arroyo Grande, to taste some of their great Champagnes.
|
We arrived at our destination of Zenaida Cellars with the late-afternoon sun casting long shadows across the vineyards.

Zenaida Winery allows members of its Wine Club to stay at The Loft, a two-bedroom apartment above the winery.

The Loft has a large deck with nice views of the winery and vineyards.

Here are Fred & Mary relaxing on the deck of The Loft, before we headed out for dinner.

As we drove west to the village of Cambria, and descended down to the coast, the fog was rolling in from the sea.

Those aren't islands in the surf, but rather hilltops poking up through the fog.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Black Cat Bistro, a small restaurant located in an old house.
