| In September 2007 we traveled to San Luis Obispo, CA. The main reasons for the trip were to attend the I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival, visit some wineries, and celebrate Chris' 50th birthday. For part of the trip, we were joined by our friends Fred & Mary, and also celebrated Mary's birthday. Click on any of these photos to see a larger version. | ||

| We stayed at the Garden Street Inn bed & breakfast, perfectly located downtown within walking distance of almost everything. | This is the library of the inn, where we enjoyed a wine & cheese reception every evening. We met many interesting people there, most of whom stayed only one night. | |

| This is the dining room of the inn, where they served a full hot breakfast every morning. The breakfast menu was different each day. | On our first evening in town, we attended the Thursday Night Farmers Market. On this particular week, it was actually more of a wild "welcome back" party for the returning college students. | |

| On Friday we visited the little town of Avila Beach, which has a very interesting history of demolition and rebuilding. | The main beachfront street is now a pedestrian-only plaza. | |
|

|
| The plaza is decorated with various works of public art. | Even the stone benches are adorned with little bronze sculptures of starfish and seashells. | |
