Despite the region being classified as a "temperate rain forest" there were very few waterfalls.

The cabin stewards on Carnival Cruises are famous for the "towel sculptures" they create each evening.

Cruising Alaska Juneau Mt. Roberts Tramway
The skies were clearing as we arrived in Juneau, the only state capital that cannot be reached by road. The Mt. Roberts Tramway was right next to the cruiseship dock, and we've made it a tradition to ride every cable car we encounter in our travels.

The ride up the mountain was exhilarating...

...and the view from the top was fabulous.

Juneau Nature Center Juneau Alaska
This eagle at the Mount Roberts Nature Center had been hit by a small plane at the airport and lost part of one wing. She was named "Cessna" as well as Lucky (in jest); she had been injured previously, cared for, then tagged and released. Thus the center knew she was 5 years old when she was brought to them again.
The pine-scented breeze at the top of the mountain was refreshing.
