Description and photos of RV camping trips in a Class A Motorhome
In 2015 we bought a Forest River FR3 30DS Class A Motorhome. Since then, we have gone on several month-long trips, and many shorter trips. The links below provide descriptions and photos of our various RV camping trips, from most recent to oldest.
In mid-July 2020 we escaped the heat wave at home by taking our RV to El Capitan State Beach, just north of Goleta, CA. We had a beautiful campsite on a bluff overlooking the ocean.
In mid-September we took our RV to Emma Wood State Beach for a few days at the beach to escape the 90-degree heat at home. The campsites are right on the edge of the beach.
In 2018 we took our fourth month-long trip, focused on Utah, Colorado and Nevada. The highlights were Cedar Breaks National Monument, Moab, Durango, Mesa Verde National Park, Zion National Park, and Valley of Fire State Park.
In August 2018 we decided to escape the heat wave at home by taking our RV to El Capitan State Beach, just north of Goleta, CA. We had a beautiful campsite on a bluff overlooking the ocean.
Camping on the beach at Emma Wood State Beach, just north of Ventura, CA. The campsites are right on the edge of the beach. While there, we witnessed the rare Blue Moon/Blood Moon/Super Moon event.
In 2017 we took our third month-long trip, focused on northern California and coastal Oregon. We explored the cities of Petaluma, Eureka, Bandon, Cannon Beach & Astoria, and visited the State Parks of Humboldt Redwoods, Grizzly Creek Redwoods, Del Norte Coast Redwoods, Samuel H. Boardman, Cape Blanco, and Carl Washburne Memorial.
In 2016 we took our second month-long trip, focused on Arizona and New Mexico, with the annual 'Hot Air Balloon Fiesta' in Albuquerque, New Mexico being the impetus for planning this particular trip. During this 32-day trip, we also briefly crossed into southeastern Utah and northwestern Texas. We explored the cities of Sedona, Taos, & Santa Fe, and visited the National Parks of Joshua Tree, Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano, Wupatki, Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly, Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands, & Saguaro.
In 2015 we took our first month-long trip, traveling through several western states. We visited the National Parks of Great Basin, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Dinosaur, Arches, Canyonlands, Natural Bridges, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Grand Canyon.
This was our "shake-down cruise"... our first trip in our brand new RV. We visited the Central Coast wine region of Paso Robles, CA for a few days of winetasting. Because we are members of the Harvest Hosts organization, we were able to camp for free at various wineries.
