The White House has this nice view through the trees of the Washington Monument.
We started our fifth & final day in DC at the Freer/Sackler Gallery.
This sculpture, titled "Floating Mountains, Singing Clouds", was made from "chicken wire".
While Ann spent some time viewing the Sackler's special exhibit of Ottoman robes, Chris rested in the Enid A. Haupt Garden behind the Smithsonian Castle.

The Smithsonian Air & Space Museum was another important stop. Here Ann poses with an actual Lunar Lander Module (built for the Space Program, but never used).
Before the Wright Brothers learned to fly, they built bicycles. We were amazed that modern 10-speed bikes look almost identical to this 1897 model.

The fall colors were getting into full swing now, as evidenced by this view of the Capitol from outside the Smithsonian.
Our final museum visit was to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Linda & Ann pose with an EV1 electric car, which their brother Mike used to drive.
