Our next stop was the National Museum of Natural History. This is the central Rotunda, encircled by the various exhibit halls.
Of course, we spent a lot of time in the Dinosaurs exhibit.

I was intrigued by this exhibit of a Stegosaurus fossil, showing how the skeleton looked when it was found.
And then adjacent to that was the final result of an assembled Stegosaurus skeleton.
It was also interesting to see this Fossil Lab, where paleontologists actually work at extracting fossils from rocks.
We then went to the top of the Washington Monument, and had this great view looking east over the National Mall to the Capitol.

![View north from Washington Monument of White House](washington_dc_095_washington_monument_view_north_big.jpg) |
The view to the south includes the Bureau of Engraving & Printing, the Tidal Basin, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Potomac River.
And the view to the north is dominated by the White House.
