This painting around the Capitol Rotunda depicts key events in American history. It is done in the Trompe L'Oeil style, to look like a sculpture.

Another beautiful ceiling was this half-dome located in the National Statuary Hall.

You're greeted by a lovely view of the National Mall as you leave the Capitol Building.

We managed to snap this quick photo of us on the Capitol Steps, before a nice lady with the machine gun told us to move along.

We next went on a tour of the Bureau of Engraving & Printing, during which we couldn't take any photos.
|
However, we could take photos in the store, where they had this ruler to determine your worth.

As we crossed the National Mall (yet again!), we passed the Smithsonian Castle, which is now the Information Center for the Smithsonian Museums.

Here we are briefly resting in the East Garden Court of the National Gallery of Art (which has a very nice cafeteria for lunch).
